The Isle of Wight is widely documented as being on of the most relaxing and enjoyable places to visit in the UK. The most popular resort on this island is Shanklin based on the south east coast. The town is easy to get to with a railway service connected to the ferry terminal at the northern tip of the Isle of Wight. Well known for its excellent weather and gorgeous setting, the tourists are usually found in the quaint shops or the old style tea rooms giving them a flashback of more innocent and friendly times.
There are also many family owned restaurants and pubs that offer some of the finest seafood dishes and local beers and ales. There are a huge variety of Shanklin accommodation available from campsites and guest houses to some top class hotels. Shanklin is also very good for a bit of retail therapy. The 2 main streets are Regent Street and Main Street, here you will be able to buy food, clothing or maybe a little souvenir to remind you of your stay on the Isle of Wight.
But let’s discuss the real reason that families return year after year. The gorgeous sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are ideal for some time relaxing in the sun. Fortunately the surrounding cliffs act not only as a great vantage point for sea views but also shelter sun bathers from possible strong winds. There is also plenty available to keep the kids busy with an amusement park and pitch and putt as well as a range of pubs and restaurants to keep your energy up!
Another highlight of the Isle of Wight is the Shanklin Chine. This historical gorge was carved by a stream which is calming and quaint during the day but once the evening comes the waterfall and surroundings are illuminated creating an unworldly atmosphere. This is a definite must when you go on your Shanklin Holiday.
